Pacific Medical Systems Limited has been appointed by Vivolution A/S to distribute its Vivostat products, a novel technology for the preparation and application of autologous fibrin sealant and platelet rich fibrin, in Taiwan, Hong Kong and South East Asia with an option to expand into China.
Announcing the collaboration with Pacific Medical Systems today, Tom Bjerg Lauritzen, Managing Director, Vivolution A/S., “PMS is our first partner outside Europe to take the Vivostat System to market. We are thrilled by this opportunity to work with an experienced and professional partner and thereby being able to address a large market with significant potential. We feel certain that our success in especially cardiothoracic surgery in Europe will be equaled by PMS and their international partners.”.
Jules Flach, CEO and Founder of Pacific Medical Systems, said, “Vivostat is a perfect addition to our product range and geographical focus. Fibrin sealants effectively stop bleedings and air-leaks during surgery, and platelet enriched accelerate wound healing in a variety of procedures and conditions. While the benefits and use of fibrin sealants have been well documented for different types of surgery, there has always been a concern of potential adverse effects from the synthetic components, bovine material or from donor blood which are typically used by current sealants. Risks of infections or transfer of known or new viruses such as HIV, CJD, Hepatitis and the possibility of Anaphylactic shock has been a concern with current sealants. This region, in particular, is very sensitive due to the experiences with SARS and the recent Birdflu virus. Vivostat, which produces the fibrin sealant fully automated from the patient’s own blood in the operating room environment within only 23 minutes, can definitely alleviate all these risks and therefore should be anyone’s preferred choice”. |
