Advancing MICS: Professor Markus Czesla’s Multi-City Lecture Tour

Pacific Medical Systems Limited successfully concluded a significant clinical and educational exchange tour featuring renowned cardiac surgeon Professor Markus Czesla across Hong Kong and Taiwan in October/November 2025. This initiative reinforced our commitment to advancing Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery (MICS) and strengthened key academic and clinical partnerships in the region.

As a leading expert from Passau, Germany, Prof. Czesla focused his lectures on optimizing surgical outcomes through innovative cannulation techniques, highlighting the critical role of the smartcanula® for superior venous drainage in MICS and complex REDO procedures.

The tour commenced in Hong Kong with a well-attended evening seminar, gathering cardiac surgery teams from three major tertiary centres: Queen Mary Hospital, Prince of Wales Hospital, and Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The session provided an immersive platform for in-depth technical exchange, extending beyond the smartcanula to showcase Pacific Medical Systems' integrated cardiac portfolio, including Medistim, Peters Surgical, RDB Cannula, FlexiGrip, and Jafron.

The engagement continued at the prestigious Taiwan Association of Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery (TATCS) Annual Meeting, where Prof. Czesla delivered a formal presentation on evolving cannulation strategies to a national audience of specialists. Capitalizing on this presence, our local partners hosted a prominent exhibition booth. The tour culminated in targeted in-hospital seminars at leading cardiac centres in Taipei, facilitating direct dialogue with surgical teams and generating substantial clinical interest.

This multi-city lecture series achieved its core objectives:

  • Elevated Clinical Dialogue: Provided high-value, expert-led education on MICS best practices.

  • Showcased Innovation: Demonstrated the unique benefits and clinical evidence supporting the smartcanula system.

  • Strengthened Partnerships: Deepened relationships with top-tier hospitals and key opinion leaders.

  • Highlighted Portfolio: Effectively presented our comprehensive suite of complementary cardiac surgery solutions.

The tour has generated strong follow-up interest from multiple institutions, positioning Pacific Medical Systems Limited as a key partner in driving the adoption of advanced, less invasive surgical techniques across Asia.
