Pacific Medical Systems Limited (PMS) held a “HML Heart-Saving Heroes Appreciation Ceremony 2026” at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) in June 2026. The ceremony paid special tribute to the management of Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Limited (HML), as well as two heroic frontline security officers, Mr. Yeung Kwok Hung and Mr. Chan Tsz Ho, in recognition of their decisive use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to save lives in critical moments. Members of the HML management team also attended the ceremony in person, jointly witnessing this firm commitment to venue safety.

Immediate Response in the Golden Hour Saves Lives
In October and December 2025, two sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) incidents occurred at the HKCEC. Under HML’s well-established emergency response mechanism, the security team acted swiftly. Mr. Yeung Kwok Hung and Mr. Chan Tsz Ho immediately retrieved AED units and cooperated with the team to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), successfully restoring the patients’ heartbeats within the critical golden hour. Both patients subsequently made full recoveries and were discharged from hospital.
During the ceremony, Mr. Mark Ho, Managing Director of PMS, presented honorary plaques to the two heroes, praising their composure, courage and professionalism under pressure. He also expressed appreciation to HML for their years of continuous efforts in enhancing venue safety management, training frontline staff and maintaining life-saving facilities.

15 Years of Partnership in Building a World-Class Heart-Safe Venue
Since 2011, PMS has worked closely with HML to deploy and continuously maintain the AED protection network at the HKCEC, jointly safeguarding the venue for 15 years. Currently, 10 AEDs are installed on site. Combined with HML’s comprehensive training and emergency response systems, these devices provide life protection for the millions of visitors who pass through the Centre each year. The two successful rescues in 2025 not only demonstrated the outstanding emergency response capability of the HKCEC security team, but also clearly reflected the tangible results of the long-term collaboration in establishing a “Heart-Safe Venue.”

Combining Technology and Courage to Promote a Culture of Safety
Mr. Mark Ho, Managing Director of PMS, said: “Facing life-or-death moments of sudden cardiac arrest, it is only human to feel fear. Mr. Yeung and Mr. Chan showed immense courage, following the precise guidance of the AED devices to step forward and become true life-saving heroes. We are deeply honoured to have worked with HML for 15 years in building a reliable life-protection system at the HKCEC. Looking ahead, we will continue to work closely with HML and other partners to promote a culture of heart safety and protect every visitor.”
